NEST-IDEA QUESTIONNAIRE

Questionnaire Evaluation Report

Full version           Short version

addressed to all interested in "New and Emerging Fields of Research"

Introduction

NEST (New and Emerging Science and Technology) is a new activity in the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). It aims to support unconventional and visionary research with the potential to open new fields for European science and technology, as well as research on potential problems uncovered by science. In NEST, interdisciplinary research is encouraged and there are no restrictions on the scientific fields to be addressed. In addition to developing new scientific understanding and capabilities and opening up new fields, NEST activities aim to consolidate European efforts in emerging fields of research and assist in planning future activities in support to a European Research Area. They will help to nurture themes that will need larger-scale support in future European research programmes. Please find more information on the Commission's website: http://www.cordis.lu/nest

NEST-IDEA is a project financed by the European Commission within the NEST-activity. Its aim is to raise awareness and give support to the scientific community regarding the NEST initiative, and furthermore to promote the dialogue with the research community on emerging scientific and technological developments. Detailed NEST-IDEA information is available at http://www.nest-idea.net/

In close co-operation with the NEST - Unit, the NEST-IDEA team is carrying out a survey to map emerging sciences in Europe, to asses arising opportunities, difficulties and needs of emerging activities and to better prepare actions which should be undertaken to promote this activities.
For the above mentioned reasons, the NEST-IDEA team would be very grateful if you would kindly answer the questions.
