NEST IDEA :: About us
Objectives

The main objective of NEST-IDEA is to mobilize the scientific community and to provide assistance in setting up and organizing the NEST implementation in Europe. These objectives will be reached by:
  • Exploring new ideas
  • Mapping the best scientific centres in Europe, in particular unknown small research groups
  • Establishing and networking between research groups regarding concepts related to new and emerging scientific and technological areas
  • Assisting in consortia organisation and proposal elaboration for preparing unconventional projects

To implement the project, the NEST-NCPs network will be used, to ensure that, a larger number of research groups is identified, but on the other hand, the intention of the project is to be used by the NCPs for their purposes.

    Specific Objectives

To achieve the general objectives the following specific objectives must be fulfilled:

  • To explore and select the most promising ideas arising in Europe by collecting NEST ideas on a regional and national level for future NEST proposal submission
  • To encourage small research groups and individual researchers to share their ideas and submit them as NEST projects
  • To analyze the newest trends in world science with the help of invited experts
  • To anticipate opportunities and threats through observation
  • To build NEST awareness
  • To ensure transfer of best practices, experience and knowledge of the project
  • To establish an NCP-database of ideas, potential participants, events, possibilities of financial support and projects
  • To establish an Internet tool (Intranet) for communication among NEST partners
  • To involve stakeholders in the early stage of idea implementation
  • To secure intellectual property rights (IPR) for new ideas disclosed by researchers

    Project Phases

    1. Phase One,
      1. To identify new ideas
        1. ADVENTURE projects: visionary research
        2. INSIGHT projects: new discoveries and phenomena
      2. To identify research groups and encourage them to submit proposals, using the national networks established
      3. To evaluate the results with the help of expert groups
      4. To disseminate NEST calls
